What is Niagara VegFest?
Niagara VegFest is an annual festival that takes place in downtown St. Catharines, Ontario. The festival celebrates a compassionate, healthy, plant-based lifestyle and features vendors, exhibitors, speakers, workshops, activities for kids, prizes and more!
When is Niagara VegFest?
In 2014 Niagara VegFest will take place on Sunday, June 1st from 11am - 6pm.
Where does Niagara VegFest take place?
Niagara VegFest takes place at Market Square (91 King Street) in downtown St. Catharines.
Do I have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend Niagara VegFest?
Absolutely not! Everyone is welcome to attend the festival!
How much does it cost to attend Niagara VegFest?
We are committed to keeping Niagara VegFest FREE! There is no charge to attend the festival. Vendors and exhibitors will have food and other items for sale, but there is no admission charge for the festival.
Where can I park?
There is ample free parking in downtown St. Catharines on a Sunday. All parking meters are free on Sundays. In addition, there is free parking at City-operated parking lots. The closest ones to the festival site are: the Central Library lot, the Garden Park/Carlisle Street Parking Garage, and the Garden Park lot. (UPDATE: download a map showing the location of these parking lots)
Please note that the Market Square lot will not be available for general parking during the festival.
Can I take public transportation to the festival?
Niagara VegFest is located 400 m from the main bus terminal in St. Catharines. City of St. Catharines Transit, Niagara Region Transit, Coach Canada, and Greyhound buses arrive and depart from this location.
Please note that GO Transit does service St. Catharines, however the GO bus station is at Fairview Mall and the GO train arrives at the Via Rail Station. You would need to take a city bus or a taxi to get to the festival site from Fairview Mall or the Via Rail Station.
Will there be food at the festival?
Absolutely! Many of our vendors will have food for sale and to sample. Bring your appetite!
Will there be beer and wine at the festival?
Yes, we are proud to feature beer and wine from the Niagara College Teaching Winery and the Niagara College Teaching Brewery at this year's fesetival.
Will vendors be accepting credit/debit cards?
Cash is your best bet for the festival. There will be some vendors who are able to process credit/debit card payments, but many won't be set up for card payments. You will be able to find ATMs from most of the major banks and credit unions within walking distance of the festival.
Do I need tickets for the speakers? Does it cost money to listen to the speakers or participate in the workshops?
There is no cost to listen to the speakers or participate in the workshops. No tickets are required for the speakers. Advance registration is required for the workshops.

On Friday, May 30th we will be presenting a special screening of the award-winning documentary, The Ghosts in Our Machine. Following the film there will be a panel discussion featuring the film's Director, Liz Marshall, the film's human star, Jo-Anne McArthur, and Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan of Our Hen House.
Jasmin Singer & Mariann Sullivan of Our Hen House will be hosting a festival kick-off party on Saturday, May 31st. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet festival speakers and listen to live jazz by The Shea D Duo while enjoying some delicious vegan fare from Mahtay Café & Lounge and some wine/beer from Niagara College Teaching Winery/Brewery.
